Zimbabwe seems very far away and it is... until you know someone living there. Whether that is a family member or one of the amazing warm, kind and gentle people who were born there, you won't understand just how fortunate we are. That good fortune allows us to help and I am asking you to help now.
The current situation in Zimbabwe is dangerous and so very sad. In a country where the National GDP per capita is $600, fuel prices were raised to $12.50 a gallon (the highest in the world). This has a ripple down effect of making everything medicine, food and living so expensive the average person is at risk.
I asked myself what to do. I am starting this fund in hopes others (when they understand the situation) will have asked themselves the same thing. ALL DONATIONS (after the administration costs of Go Fund me) will go to these three organizations.

Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (facebook or online), Zimbabwe Peace Project (former State Department International Woman of Courage awardee founded this organization after being abducted, tortured, and raped for political reasons), or Zimbabwe Tree of Life are all reputable organizations doing invaluable work. ZLHR provides legal support to arrested activists. ZPP and ToL provide immediate assistance (medical, shelter, and counseling) to victims of political violence. All three have received USG grants in the past and used the funds well.
Donating directly is difficult since the government ordered the internet to shutdown. For that reason the funds will be sent to me and I will be sure the funds arrive and they are put to good use, aimed at relieving the suffering of these beautiful people. The good news is your donation of a $1 in their society is really more like $5. I will be posting the receipts of disbursements from this fund. So I know it will make a big difference. Much of the world sees us as people who do not care for anyone or anything but ourselves. We know better. Please help.
