We are the friends, co-workers and family of Salvador (Sal) Rodriguez who has been a valued and loved member of the Southern California golf community. A 30 year employee of the Riviera Country Club and 15 years of service at Roger Dunn Golf Shops. We are asking for your support for Sal and his family in their time of need as Sal has been stricken with a life threatening illness that has put his family at risk of losing their beloved husband and father.
As a long time employee of the Roger Dunn Golf store in West Los Angeles Sal has repaired golf clubs for thousands of golfers in Los Angeles and has earned the appreciation of those he has served for these many years. As an employee of the Riviera Country Club since 1986 Sal has been a constant source of friendship and fellowship to the members and their guests with his ever present smile and his invariably positive attitude. He has made the experiences of all who know him both positive and enjoyable.
Unfortunately, Sal’s life took a change for the worse several years ago when he began experiencing fatigue with chest pains which eventually took him to UCLA where he was admitted for extensive testing. Tragically, it was discovered that Sal was diagnosed with a rare protein buildup in his heart which led to a dire prognosis that Sal might need a heart transplant. Although he has been undergoing regular treatment with therapies designed to combat his illness the outcome of his treatment is uncertain. His doctors have informed him that he may ultimately need a heart transplant if he is to have any hope of returning to work and leading a normal life. Through it all Sal still maintains the positive attitude that has been his nature and defined his life. His thoughts now center on his family and what he can do to insure that they have the support they need should he no longer be able to be there for them. Although he would never ask for help we who know him want to do everything we can to lend our support to Sal and his family.
Sal has been married for 23 years and is the father of four children the eldest of whom is beginning his second year of college. Although Sal has been able to refinance the loan he took out to pay the college tuition he is facing mounting bills which will exceed his ability to pay. The State disability he currently receives is not adequate to meet his families basic needs and his ability to return to work is uncertain for the foreseeable future.
We who know and love Sal are putting up this page to raise as much as we can for Sal and his family. We encourage all those who know Sal and even those who may not have had the opportunity to meet him, to DONATE GENEROUSLY to this fund so that Sal can go forward knowing that his family will have the necessities of life for the foreseeable future.
