Kipper's Story
Meet Kipper, a small dog with a big heart. Before we took him into our home, Kipper was a 3 year old stray who managed to crawl under our backyard gate (and into our lives) in 2012. When we found him, he was severely malnourished, underweight (half of his weight was matted fur), with ants & fleas crawling between his eyes.
After weeks of searching for his owner, we decided to make him an addition to our family!
Ever since then, we have been on so many adventures & road trips! I simply cannot imagine life without him.
Today, he was hospitalized due to emergency situations. Tonight is going to be the first night in 5 years where my best friend is not going to be sleeping by my side :(
Why make the gofundme?
Yesterday, we started to notice his lack of appetite, an increase of water intake, and lack of energy. He then began to worsen and vomit the small amount of food he ate. Today, we had to take him into emergency hospital and get him stabilized. He was then diagnosed with cushings disease, a common disease found in older dogs which include high blood pressure, bulging abdomen, muscle weakness, and nervous system disorders. However, along with cushings, he was also diagnosed with diabetes (explaining the loss in appetite and increase thirst), borderline kidney failure, and an infection. Due to the danger of the mix of the four diagnoses, he needed immediate care (simply put, if we treat the diabetes, it could increase the threats of cushings and vice versa). While this situation presents to be alarming, it is treatable. He will be under constant watch and care along with routine glucose glucometer checks every two hours thanks to the amazing people of Sugar Land Veterinary Specialists. We cannot express our thanks for everything they do.
Any help is appreciated and ALL PROCEEDS will go towards medication, ultrasound procedures, glucose glucometer treatment, and more towards Kipper's recooperation.
