An Appeal for Prayers and Assistance:
Over the past twenty five years my brother Tony and Sister-in-Law Carrie have been providing therapeutic, specialized care for some of Vermont’s most vulnerable and traumatized children.
Tony and Carrie have been married for 30 years and have seven wonderful children. Early in their marriage God blessed them with two biological children, and then again with the adoption of five beautiful daughters!
They believe that God is sovereign over all situations in life, that adopting the fatherless is not merely a "mission." Instead it's a way of life in which God chose to bless their family and to direct the path that they should walk in.
Over the years they have endured many trials and overcome many difficult challenges. The past 3 years have proved to be extremely overwhelming in many ways, including financially. Tony and Carrie have exhausted their life savings to cover over $50,000.00 in expenses for specialized therapy and treatment programs that are not covered by insurance.
Most recently, their seventeen year old daughter Shayla has been struggling with severely complex issues arising from early childhood trauma including Self harm, Depression, Anxiety, Anorexia Nervosa and Dissociative Disorder. Last March, Shayla attempted to end her life!
These issues have translated into many unhealthy behaviors that have escalated to a point where it is necessary for Shayla to be in an environment where she can get the individualized professional help she needs from those trained specifically in these areas.
In March of 2018, Shayla was accepted into a 12 - 18 month Christ centered program that specializes in providing hope and healing. Annual costs for this program and associated expenses are expected to reach $15,000.00.
We ask that you would join us in praying for Tony & Carrie in the many challenges they are facing as parents of so many beautiful children. Our prayer is that this Christ centered program will be the key in helping Shayla get her life back on track and give her the hope and healing she needs to be able to start seeing herself as the loved and precious child she is to God and to us and that this will provide her with the resources she needs to make healthy decisions and live the abundant life God has planned for her.
