Help Zyla Fight Cancer

Zyla was diagnosed with Diffuse Large B cell Lymphoma on April 25th, 2023. She completed 6 rounds of chemotherapy and was declared cancer free in September. In October, Blayne proposed and Zyla was living a happy life, engaged and back in school for a Medical Assisting program. UNTIL the Friday after Thanksgiving. She hadn't been feeling well and was in a lot of pain. A trip to the ER determined that she had RELAPSED and a fist-sized tumor was growing like wildfire and was now pressing on her musculature of the chest wall. She was sent home from the ER twice until a week later (12/1/23) they finally admitted her since she was in a lot of pain, constantly nauseous and couldn't keep any food down. They will do a biopsy to verify that she still has the same cancer, as well as look for the markers for her next treatment. See Zyla's update on December 2nd for the latest details.

She is 18 years old and has been attending her first year of college in Bend, Oregon. Talk about LIFE INTERRUPTED! Zyla is a unique and amazing young woman who is friendly to everyone she meets. She wants to work in the medical field after seeing her older brother battle and survive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia 10 years ago. She is strong and independent and has an incredible attitude, even upon hearing this news, she is positive she will get through this.

One year ago, Zyla and her sweetie Blayne, moved to Bend for her to start college. Blayne is working full-time to support them while Zyla goes to school and works part-time. Zyla was planning on starting the nursing program next year, which we are sure she will still do with her hard work ethic and straight-A record. She hopes to become a Family Nurse Practitioner and work in the Women’s Health or the NICU.

We would love to help Zyla fight back against the cancer, with all the focus and concentration being on winning the battle, while she receives the care and support she needs from her loved ones during this challenging time.

We appreciate the love and support from our family, friends and community as we provide the "village" needed to support Zyla and Blayne through this journey. Your support and financial help will relieve a great deal of stress for them. The funds will help cover medical costs, lost wages and travel expenses for our family to help them in Oregon and provide Zyla the care she will need during the treatment. Every little bit helps!
