This is Zuri, she's a Chocolate Miniature Pinscher that was found after being struck by a car (we think) and left on the street. A friend found her and was turned away by two vets because she wasn't the owner and was unable to pay for her visit (most likely only because she didn't have the means to pay, I can't imagine a vet not treating an injured animal because the person who brought it in was not its owner...let's just let it suffer and/or die then?). She called us in desperation and we decided to help. We got her a drop-in visit with Dr. Han at Richmond Veterinary Hospital and he determined her to have 3 broken legs (all except her right rear) and 3-4 broken toes on her left front paw). We have since named her "Zuri" (Swahili for beautiful). Zuri is getting the attention she needs to try to repair her legs, but she's got a long fight ahead of her. The funds raised will go towards paying for her immediate medical care, the cost of which at this point is unknown. I know that Zuri is a fighter! She was actually wagging her tail and licking a cut that that I got on my finger despite her own very serious injuries. She deserves the chance to heal and thrive, just one look into her beautiful light-brown eyes reveals the love she has inside. We will all be thankful for any help that we can get, and of course, progress reports will be posted as we receive them.
