Help Zoriya Sing in London

Hello. My name is Katie and I need your help to send my kiddo, Zoriya (the one in the center, wearing the mask), to perform in London’s Royal Festival Hall!

Zoriya has a passion for choir and has been performing since they were in 7th grade. Their first year in choir, they were awarded Most Improved, and they have been steadily progressing every year since. Their passion and dedication to singing in choir has led them to perform in CCSD Honor Choir, CCSD Holiday Extravaganza, and NMEA All-State, as well as be accepted into the top choir at their high school as a junior.

After performing in the NMEA All-State Choir, they were nominated as a candidate for the Honors Performance Series to perform in London at Royal Festival Hall. Their dream is to study music abroad, so this opportunity to fulfill their dreams was too good to pass up, even though I wasn’t sure how my family would be able to afford such a trip. I told them their dreams had to come first, and I encouraged them to submit their audition. I figured that if they got in, we would find a way.

Zoriya poured their heart and soul into that audition, recording while sick with a cold, all for the opportunity to realize their dreams. Their hard work and dedication paid off; they were accepted as a finalist!!

We need your help to make this dream come true because I have been faced with medical challenges that have made doing anything other than focusing on my health nearly impossible. After experiencing a series of seizures, and many diagnostic tests later, I was diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder. The financial strain of increased medical bills during a time when I am not able to work has left my family in a situation where only my husband is working, and we are living paycheck to paycheck while I’m recuperating. Although my health is improving and I’m hoping to begin working again in the coming year, I don’t think I will be able to generate enough income in time to send them on this trip without your help.

Please help me and my family fulfill my kiddo’s dream of performing in London! We need to raise $10,000 by the end of this year to cover the program costs ($6,250) and travel expenses ($3,750) for the two of us to make this trip. My hope is that, with your support, we can raise $20,000 total so that my whole family can be there in London watching them perform! Every little bit helps us get one step closer to making this dream a reality. With your generosity and support, I know we can make this happen!

EDIT: Thank you to the perspective donor that asked for more information about the cost breakdowns. Here is how I arrived at the totals for this trip.

Transportation to/from London and meals are the responsibilities of the participant and are not included in the program cost.

If anyone knows any tricks/tips to lower the airfare, I'm open. These costs were what I found to be available as of 12/5/2023 for a standard economy, non-stop flight to Heathrow.

I figured meals to be roughly $25 USD, which translates to $20 GPB.

The travel to/from the airport is based on an average (according to Google) Uber cost of $35-40 GPB ($44-50 USD).

I would like Zoriya to be able to buy at least 1 souvenir, so I set an allowance of $50.

We need to all renew our passports.

GoFundMe takes a 2.9% + $.30 per transaction fee. We do not receive 100% of the donations unless they are made "offline" by family.

As you can see by these breakdowns, I am not even asking that the full trip be funded by donation (although that would be AWESOME!!). I am asking for your generosity because this is a lot for us to manage in our current circumstance. I hope this expanded explanation helps all potential donors make an informed decision about how your generosity is being used.
