Help Zonnie with asbestos-related expenses
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Sarrah, and I've started this GoFundMe to help an incredible friend of mine. My friend Zonnie and her super cute doggo/sidekick, Nikko Suave, have been displaced after the house they rent was flooded when a sewage pipe burst on July 21st. The flooding not only destroyed some of her personal belongings, but the bacteria from the sewage water and resulting mold growth created an unsafe living environment that was exacerbated when the necessary removal of the damaged carpeting & drywall revealed asbestos within the home. Zonnie had to completely vacate the house to allow for the removal of the contaminated-damaged drywall and flooring; this work was supposed to be completed before her return with the expectation the house would be livable. However, when she returned to the property Saturday, August 13th, the reconstruction was far from complete. The home is currently uninhabitable due to the reconstruction and poses a harmful threat to her & Nikko’s health should they try to stay in the house (there is currently no bathroom in the house, and the home should not be entered without proper respiratory protection due to the asbestos ). Delays with the home insurance appraisal and time needed for contractor repairs, it may take as many as 2-4 weeks (if not more) for the home to be livable again.
Not only has Zonnie had to front a lot of money for last-minute hotel rooms and has had to scramble to find more long-term lodging, but she has also lost a number of important belongings in the flood that the renter’s insurance cannot cover. I helped her move into temporary lodging yesterday, and just for 2 -weeks, she’s had to pay $700. As a student and full-time employee, having to deal with this crisis has been detrimental to her well-being and has exhausted her financial resources. Any funds raised will help her get back on her feet by paying for temporary lodging & living costs and help replace some of her lost belongings.
