Hi everyone, my name is Karina Flores,

I’m an active duty service member in the U.S. military and have proudly served for over 10 years. I never imagined I’d be in a position to ask for help like this, but today I’m doing it for someone who means more to me than I can ever put into words, my fur baby Zonik. Just days after returning from deployment, I brought home a small Frenchie named Zonik, and without even realizing it, he became my lifeline. When the world didn’t slow down after deployment, Zonik did. He became my emotional support, my grounding presence, and my constant when everything else felt overwhelming. Zonik has been by my side through some of the most difficult chapters of my life. He has seen me exhausted, grieving, rebuilding, and finding my strength again. On nights when the weight of the world felt unbearable, he stayed. No words, no questions just unconditional love.

Today, my heart is breaking. Zonik is in critical condition and requires round-the-clock veterinary care. Watching him fight is one of the most painful things I’ve ever experienced. The cost of emergency treatment, diagnostics, medications, and 24/7 monitoring has added up rapidly and has become more than I can manage on my own. We have been through so many chapters of life together, and he has yet to see my best ones. I cannot imagine this life without him by my side. I am not ready to let him go. I will do everything in my power to give him a fighting chance.
