Help Zombie Heal: A Second Chance for a Brave Rescue Cat

On October 22nd, my daughter and I learned about a cat at JPaws who immediately pulled on our heartstrings. Her name was Zombie, and she was blind. After reaching out to JPaws we were told that no one had come forward for her and that she was scheduled to be euthanized. Ella and I have experience in rescuing and caring for animals, and we couldn't let that happen.

On October 27th, we brought Zombie home from JPaws. She was very lethargic at first, and something was clearly causing her pain. I called JPaws and they asked if I was aware she was blind and suggested I could bring her back, but she quickly showed us her sweet personality, and we knew we had to act. I made up my mind to bring her to a veterinarian I trusted to ensure she got the care she needed.

During her visit to Furry Friends, the vet noticed that Zombie reacted strongly when touched near her back end, shifting quickly from calm to distressed. She held her tail awkwardly and walked as though in pain, indicating possible trauma in that area, which had not been mentioned by JPaws. She has never been X-rayed, so these issues had gone undetected before we brought her home.

Since then, Zombie has been to two separate veterinarians. The team at Furry Friends was wonderful and helped stabilize her, but they suspected she might need a tail amputation. They unfortunately lost X-ray capabilities, and Zombie was in too much pain to be examined without sedation, so we took her to Acadiana West Animal Clinic for further evaluation.

Today, November 6th, we received confirmation that Zombie does indeed need a full tail amputation. Despite all she’s endured, she remains the sweetest, most trusting cat, and every vet who’s met her has fallen in love with her gentle spirit.

I’ve already invested a significant amount into her medical care, and these funds will go directly toward Zombie’s surgery, recovery, and continued treatment.

Zombie has already been through so much, yet she continues to show so much love and trust despite her pain. Considering the nature of her injury that we had no idea it existed when we brought her home, we feel incredibly fortunate that she and we have made it this far. The staff at Acadiana West Animal Clinic described her as so sweet and agreed that the amputation is the next step toward healing. With your help, we can give Zombie the comfort, safety, and pain-free life she deserves, a true second chance.

Every donation, no matter the amount, will help us move one step closer to her recovery. Thank you for helping us save this brave little soul.
