Since the friday after Christmas 2017, our world has turned upside down. Dave was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer -stage 3. A softball size tumor has invaded his lower right lung and there are a few lymph nodes involved. Dave is having chemo treatments along with radiation 5 days a week for 6 1/2 weeks. Treatments are in Camden about 40 miles each way. He was moved to a rehab facility in Moorestown last week to help regain strength but I am still transporting him back and forth each day. We know that this cancer is not curable, but hopefully he will have a couple of extra years.
My car is 13 years old and is starting to have issues. As I was driving the other day, my spare tire which is stored under my car actually broke off, dragged for a bit, then as I braked, I saw it fly past me! I know I need new tires and brakes, and it needs to be inspected by tomorrow! yeah right. I spend over $125 week in just gas but but cannot work because of having to take Dave 5 days a week. I am babysitting when I can to make the gas money. Needless to say, there is no savings account to pull from. That disappeared when my husband went on disability, 5 years ago.
My beautiful daughter Elizabeth is attending Jefferson Univ (old Phila Univ) and is in her second year - pre-med. I need to catch up paying them so she can register for housing for next year. She is doing so well there, she deserves to continue her education. I cannot cosign her student loans and I promised my parents, I would not ask them again.
Bills are getting set aside. Robbing Peter to pay Paul as the saying goes. I actually applied for food stamps now and for help with the electric bill but did you know that it takes 30 to 45 days for Burlington Human Services to process an application!
Any support that can be given us would be welcomed. We pray that Dave will get stronger and that we can find the funds to pay for Liz's school, and to be able to pay some bills until I can go back to working more hours. It is so hard to write this, and I thank you for reading this.
