Zoie is beginning her junior year at North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem. She is a Wig and Makeup major. She was set to start classes on Monday but found out that there was an issue with her financial aid and it will not be covering all of her tuition this semester. She had worked hard this summer to afford her new apartment and materials for her makeup kit for school. Unfortunately, she does not have enough to cover her school expenses and tuition to attend. If you know Zoie, you know how devastating this was to hear. We have exhausted all financial avenues in the family at the moment to get as much as we can to help her. Unfortunately, as a teacher, I am not paid in the summers and have just spent $2,000 on unexpected car repairs. We thought her school was good, but unfortunately, it was short in the full amount. She has worked extremely hard to get where she is. UNCSA and Wig and Makeup have been her goal since middle school. She has always known what she wanted to do and put everything into accomplishing that goal. This is an extremely hard program to get into. She has truly shined in the program. She has even been assigned as a head designer on two productions for the school year. This is a huge accomplishment for a junior. Zoie has a job in Winston and she also works side jobs as a face painter and props artist to make ends meet during the school year. Zoie is extremely independent and hates to ask for help of any kind. She currently is unable to begin classes on Monday. However, they are giving her this week to get it all together so she can begin the following week. We are extremely grateful for any additional support you can give her to help her begin school this fall. Thank you all so much.
