Help Zoey Heal After Her Traumatic Accident

Hi. My name is Tammy and if you know me, you know that I love dogs. Zoey is a 7 year old Staffy that came into my life as a temporary foster in 2018. She became a permanent part of my life that same year.

She is the goofiest, most loving dog I've ever known. Since 2020, Zoey has helped our family raise 10 foster dogs and she just met number 11 two weeks ago.

On Sunday, May 25th, Zoey was in a terrible, traumatic accident on our property. She was doing her usual sunbathing in the driveway when she was hit by a truck and pushed approximately 8'. She was rushed to PETS Emergency in Lancaster and after a few hours they determined that she would need to go to UPenn in Philly.

She sustantained injuries to both hind legs. She has a broken 'ankle' bone on her right leg and a dislocated joint on her left. The worst of her injuries is that she is missing soft tissue from the inside of both hind legs.

Because of this, the doctors at UPenn are unable to do surgery. Zoey will need to have daily sedations to change her bandages to insure that she doesn't get any infections. This means that she cannot undergo surgery for a few days.

UPenn gave us an estimate of $15,000.00.

Even after her surgery, Zoey will need bandage changes, medications and doctor visits. We

were told that recovery is estimated to be two to three months at the very least.

Zoey is a once in a lifetime dog and we are committed to doing everything we can to save her. To date, we have spent $5,500.00 and we have another $12,000.00 to go. PETS was an additional $2,200.
