Zoey is my daughter's almost 6-year-old Great Pyrenees, a big, loving dog who has always brought joy to our family. She’s faced her share of challenges, including joint issues and anxiety, but she’s always been a loyal companion—especially to my daughter Stacey. Recently, Zoey started limping, and within days, we noticed a firm swelling. Our hearts sank as the vet confirmed our fears: Zoey has osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer. This diagnosis has been devastating for all of us, but especially for Stacey, who shares a deep bond with Zoey.
The funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward the surgical amputation of Zoey’s leg and the veterinary bills that come with it. While this won’t cure her cancer, it will relieve her pain and give her more time to enjoy the things she loves—running, playing, and being with her family. Zoey is a big, doofy girl who doesn’t trust just anyone, but once you’re in her circle, you’re her friend for life. Stacey put it best: 'We're on borrowed time. Started with a slight limp on Monday, and four days later I've never wanted so badly to be wrong. I saw her limping, and then noticed the firm swelling and my heart sank because I just knew. My big puppy has osteosarcoma. This doesn't change the fact that she has cancer; it will come back, it's just a matter of time. But I feel like I can breathe having a plan to take away her current pain. Sitting and waiting for things to get worse felt suffocating. She's a healthy weight, she's physically fit, and strong enough to adapt, so we're taking that leg.'
The support of anyone who is able to help would mean the world to Stacey and our family. Your kindness will help Zoey get the care she needs and give us more precious time with her. Thank you for considering a donation and for being part of Zoey’s journey.
