Help Zoe heal after witnessing murder of her bf...
Hi, my name is Lisa and I’m raising funds for my daughter Zoe to help her rebuild her life. Zoe and Eric had just moved in together and she had just driven a 15' uhaul truck with all her belongings from Florida to Wisconsin Friday, 10/8, parking the uhaul in their driveway. Eric really wanted to go out the night she got back to celebrate their moving in together, so off they went. Saturday morning, 10/9 at 2:30, Eric was shot by a “friend” as Zoe and Eric stood side by side holding hands. Zoe called 911, was so shaken that a stranger helped her complete that call. Thank you to whoever you are, and the nurse who started CPR, and all the officers and EMTs that assisted. Zoe cooperated with police in an interview that took hours to complete. She learned of Eric’s passing while in that room. Her life has been blown to bits in those seconds. Initially, the officer on scene told Zoe that she could go to the hospital after an interview was conducted first, but that she wouldn’t be allowed to see Eric because of COVID rules and regulations the hospital has in place. After the interview, the officer conducting that interview let Zoe know that Eric’s body was transported from the hospital to the coroner's office and that visitors were not allowed at all so “the best thing [she] could do right now would be to go home and get some rest.” At that time the officer gave her a ride home.
The next bit is embarrassing and horrifying to reveal this but necessary in order to get help in many areas for my daughter. Zoe was dropped home after her interview with the police and within 20 minutes of being there 15-20 members of Eric’s family kicked in the back door to their new home, as well as the bathroom and bedroom doors demanding to know why she wasn’t at the hospital and how could she be sleeping right now. She was then dragged out of bed (naked) by her hair and physically assaulted by multiple members of his family, at which time the police showed up. Eric’s mother asked Zoe what happened to Eric, so Zoe told her. During this time, the rest of the family were taking all of Eric’s belongings, as well as all of their new appliances, dishes, silverware, clothing that wasn’t Eric’s and a safe that belonged to Zoe that had about $1500 in it, leaving my daughter without funds, her new home ransacked and destroyed, and Zoe re-traumatized. The police took Zoe into a safe and unknown location afterwards and I thank them for that.
This entire experience has left Zoe traumatized; she has since developed mental health issues and will need extensive counseling and possible medication to recover from this devastating loss, and at some point, relocate.
One month prior to them moving in together, Zoe was diagnosed with Deep Vein Thrombosis (a blood clot) in her right arm. She has no insurance and was paying for her medication out of pocket at $1k/month. Zoe was working as an independent contractor and has since been unable to work. Her job was seasonal and does not have benefits.
Eric was paying all the bills and covering all the expenses of them moving in together; that expense has now fallen on my daughter. That same week, they had discussed getting married but were focused on moving in together and getting settled in. He was really excited about providing for her fully, and she was really excited about being able to focus on family.
She is trying her best to cope in the aftermath of all this and currently has no income. I am hoping with the money raised, we can get her properly diagnosed and treated for her newly developed mental health issues as well as pick up where Eric left off at covering her bills and expenses while she is unable to work.
Eric's killer was taken into custody that same morning and he remains there.
Thank you in advance for any and all donations no matter how big or small, we greatly appreciate it. My condolences to Zoe and to Eric's family during this tragic time.
