Help Zoe on her road to Recovery

Hi all,

Firstly let us introduce ourselves I’m Abby Zoe’s sister, and I’m Rachel Zoe’s friend. We are looking for your help and support for Zoe’s medical and equipment needs.

A brief background on Zoe’s story. On the August bank holiday Monday 2021, Zoe was abruptly awoken with a fierce pain in her back and ended up in A&E.

A few hours later Zoe was discharged with mild acute back pain. That night Zoe found herself deteriorating.

Tuesday morning Zoe was then rushed back into A&E, where she was admitted. Multiple tests were done as well as scans and X-rays, with no diagnosis or explanation.

By Thursday Zoe no longer had feeling from the waist down, and still no explanation as to why.

On Friday evening Zoe was rushed by ambulance from Connolly Hospital to Beaumont Hospital, which resulted in emergency spinal surgery. The explanation that was given to Zoe was that a rare bacterial bug had got into her blood and attached to her spine. Zoe remained on an IV antibiotic drip for 8 weeks port surgery. Zoe was informed that the recovery time would be approximately 18 months.

Fast forward 10 weeks on, Zoe is still in hospital and continues to receive intense physio therapy daily while waiting on a bed in the National Rehabilitation Hospital which could be months. Currently Zoe is confined to a hospital bed and a wheelchair as she focuses on her recovery.

Zoe continues to amaze us and the medical team everyday with her strength, determination and motivation to get home to her two children; Indi (7), Zayn (1) and her partner Barry.

Before Zoe comes home there are a number of obstacles to overcome, we are appealing for your support to cover some of the costs for medical and equipment needs.
