Two years ago my beloved cat Ava jumped into bed with her heart pumping out of her chest. This began a four month nightmare of weekly trips to my vet and the emergency vet. In the end poor Ava’s heart broke and so did mine. Saying goodbye was hardest thing I’ve ever done. Then Zoe got sick. She needed to see a specialist to determine she had pneumonia caused by an underlying asthma. After a hard course of antibiotics and getting her on an expensive steroid cream she started to turn around. The whole ordeal with both my beloved cats practically cleaned out my savings. Anyone who has been through this knows vet bills rack up unexpectedly and quickly, especially when the emergency vet is involved. Now two years later Zoe is sick again.
This week she has been diagnosed with diabetes, likely caused in part by the steroids she is on for her asthma. She’s also not eating well and my vet suspects she may have a kidney or liver problem. She highly recommends I see another specialist. The problem this time is I simply can’t afford it. I hate asking for help but I don’t know what else to do. She’s such a sweet little girl and I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I didn’t try everything to get her the medical attention she needs. I realize it’s a tough time for everyone right now, so I understand if you can’t help. If you can, I will be forever grateful and so will little Zoe.
