Help ZMCC Get A Microscope
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Samantha, and I am raising money for Zion Medical Community Clinic located in the mountain village of Bunabuyoka, close to Mbale, Uganda. Malaria is the #1 cause of death among children under 5 in Bududa, Uganda, and represents a key global health challenge. According to the World Health Organization in 2019, there were an estimated 229 million cases of malaria worldwide. Zion Medical Community Clinic aims to provide quality health services in underserved communities such as Manafwa, Bududa and Mamisindwa. I am launching this fundraiser with the goal of raising enough money for Zion Medical Community Clinic to buy a microscope.
Malaria is a disease caused by a plasmodium parasite transmitted through the bite of a mosquito. A microscope would allow staff at Zion Medical Community Clinic to properly diagnose malaria and therefore provide proper interventions for the community. Uganda has one of the highest rates of malaria in the world due to lack of supplies and poor infrastructure, including diagnostic testing. The ZMCC sees over 500 patients per month, and the number of patients coming to the clinic has been increasing, especially as health resources become more strained and difficult to access with COVID concerns and lockdowns.
Make a donation to Zion Medical Community Clinic and help this community improve their capacity to properly diagnose and treat malaria! A child in Sub-Saharan Africa dies of malaria every 2-3 minutes. Consider donating to this important cause. Even the smallest contribution can make a big difference.
Below I’ve some more pictures of the clinic..
