Hi! My name is Zion Rios and I’m a 19 year-old alternative R&B artist from Los Angeles, California based in Atlanta, Georgia. For most of my life, I felt like a fraud—an artist who sang, wrote songs, and performed, but never released any of my music. Fear held me back. I worried my sound wouldn’t be accepted, so I spent years calculating my brand and making music I thought would be more generally appealing. But eventually, I asked myself: what kind of music do I want to create? I grew tired of pretending, both in my personal life and in my art.
So, I stopped planning, faced my fears, and reached out to Micah Caldwell, a music teacher from my high school who wanted to break into the industry as a producer. Our creative synergy was instant. We built an environment free of perfectionism, full of authenticity and rawness. We worked tirelessly, bouncing ideas and tracks back and forth, held each other accountable, and pushed each other to grow. He’s never asked for a dime, just my continued and consistent dedication. For the first time, I felt like I was making music that truly represented me.
This project is about moving away from trends, embracing my true self, and paving my own way as both an artist and a person. It’s a vulnerable undertaking that is unmistakably raw and explores several emotional complexities that come with romance. The funds raised will go directly to my sound engineer Androm3da, who believes in this project so much that he dramatically reduced his usual rate for these first 15 tracks. We’ve already recorded 10+ full demos for the project, but Androm3da will handle all the post-production, mixing, and mastering.
