Zion came into my life when he was just 8 weeks old while I was in Barbados. He’s a German shepherd and Labrador mix, incredibly smart and deeply in tune with my feelings. I first brought him to the US with me, and the process was smooth and affordable. Now, as we prepare to return to Barbados, I’ve discovered that the costs are nearly three times higher than before. Between his international health certificate and the cargo flight (since he’s too big to travel in the cabin), the expenses have become overwhelming—especially since I’ve been working part time for the last six months.

This year has been especially hard, as I lost two family members over the summer. Zion has been my greatest comfort during this time of loss. He’s not just a dog—he’s my guardian angel, always by my side. Whether I’m meditating in nature or feeling sad, Zion is there, watching over me, alerting me to anything unusual, and offering his love and hugs. Our special bond is so strong that when I sing “You Are My Sunshine,” he comes running to give me a hug, no matter what he’s doing.
