Help Zim Artists attend Mangoma's Music Camp
Donation protected
Dear Friends,
For the past 9 months, I’ve been privileged to work with Zimbabwean Performing Artist, Researcher, Instrument Builder and Ethnomusicologist Othnell 'Mangoma' Moyo, organizing a 2024 US tour as the 2024 Artist in Residence for Kutsinhira Cultural Arts Center in Eugene, Oregon.
I have consistently been extremely impressed with Mangoma’s dedication to in-depth learning and supporting the musical and cultural traditions of the Zimbabwean people, and to teaching these accurately to those who are genuinely interested.
Ironically, those who can best afford to financially support Mangoma’s work and learn from him are not Zimbabweans – and yet, there is a great desire amongst Zimbabweans to learn and perform their own music. Mangoma strongly desires to provide this teaching to his fellow-countrymen and women.
I’m sponsoring this GoFundMe to help this happen, by means of a music camp Mangoma is offering this April.
Please read Mangoma’s letter below and contribute if you can.
Thanks,
Marilyn Kolodziejczyk

Dear Friends,
I am excited to host the Inaugural “Mavhurachando Camp.” This excursion offers a unique opportunity for Zimbabwean artists to immerse themselves in the rich cultural heritage of Indigenous Zimbabwean music, dance, and instruments - scheduled for the last week of April 2024.
Funds raised through this GoFundMe campaign will directly cover camp fees for 26 artists who stand to benefit from this program, but are unable to afford the tuition. Your contribution will specifically cover their travel expenses, tuition, accommodation, meals, stationery, and the cost of project administration to enhance their learning experience.
Your generosity will not only help us overcome financial barriers for said artists but will also serve as a testament to the power of art in transforming lives. Every contribution, whether it is a donation or sharing our campaign with your network, will have a profound impact on our collective dreams.
Thank you for your support!
Othnell Mangoma Moyo
