I don’t know where or how to begin in telling Zhonyae’s story. But, at 3 and a half years old HER story is so new, HER story is so pure that trying to explain the battle that she and our family have been fighting for the past 13 months and counting has proven to be difficult. As I type now, the fight continues.

Watching her smile, frown, cry and laugh through this fight has been one of the most painful and yet one of the most fulfilling experiences for any and everyone she has touched. A smile so bright and warm that the sun pales in comparison and tearful scream that will make the whole world stop and wait for that beautiful smile to come back. 

13 months ago we took Zhonyae to the emergency room because her leg hurt only to be blindsided with an Leukemia (AML) diagnosis. Every single day that followed has been about doing anything and everything to help her fight this battle. Spending the majority of her time since the diagnosis in the hospital has been one of the hardest parts, especially considering how much she just wants to go home and play with her “brudders”. 

The financial impact is secondary to the emotional but it has proven to be a worthy adversary as well. Which led to finally asking for help. I get that we live in a world where people are willing to help, but that doesn’t make it easier to ask.
