The feline love of our life, Zeus, has recently turned 1 year old. Unfortunately, we were not able to celebrate this momentous occasion as Zeus has been diagnosed with FIP, Feline Infectious Peritonitis. Although FIP is widely known as guaranteed death sentence, there has recently been treatments with over a 95% success rate. Cats are not just living with FIP, they are BEING CURED FROM IT!
Zeus is probably one of the most hilarious cats you will ever meet. From the day we brought him home we knew he was going to be special. From his dog-like behavior to his constant talking and his desire to climb the legs of his human caregivers he is always good for a laugh or a cuddle.
Getting this diagnosis and watching our cat be so sick so suddenly has been absolutely devastating for us. He is a shell of what he used to be just 3 weeks ago. When I found out that there was indeed SUCCESSFUL treatments I had hope again. There are thousands and thousands of cats exactly like Zeus that are being cured. That hope quickly faded when I learned how expensive the treatments are. Completely unrealistic for our family. Battling cancer for the last year has drained my ability to pull from any sort of savings to get these treatments for Zeus.
