Help Zeus Beat His Heart Condition

Hi there! My name is Christen, and my husband and I are raising money towards our 1 and a half year old golden retriever’s medical bills. Zeus is an extremely happy, friendly, and energetic boy, who loves to cuddle and play with his ball, however over the holidays his health unfortunately took a turn for the worse. He became lethargic, stopped eating full meals, and seemed sore and slow to get up. We quickly sought veterinary care hoping to diagnose and treat his condition.

Despite our efforts, Zeus's health continued to deteriorate. After several visits and tests at the emergency vet, he was diagnosed with a potential heart condition—Myocarditis. His heart also developed an arrhythmia, which the vet has unfortunately been unable to successfully treat. We have been told that he needs to be seen by a cardiologist, however there unfortunately aren’t any in Winnipeg. We have been referred to a cardiologist in Edmonton who would be able to perform the tests necessary to help him, however the costs of treatment and travel are extensive. The initial quote for an echocardiogram (cardiac ultrasound) and consultation is $1,100 CAD, but with the possibility of needing additional tests such as x-rays, bloodwork, an Electrocardiogram (ECG), and Holter Monitoring, the costs will go up to $2,200 CAD or more.

We have insurance for Zeus, but the limits have long been exhausted due to the extensive testing already done. All contributions will go towards covering the vet bills we have already incurred (above $5,000) as well as travel, and medical expenses for his visit to Edmonton. We are more than grateful for any contribution, and appreciate you even just taking the time to read about our boy. Zeus is a part of our family, and we want nothing more than to see him happy and healthy, with a long life ahead of him.
