My sister and I are writing on behalf of our sweet grandmother, Zetta Robinson (81), who recently lost her home of nearly 50 years to the Eaton Fire in Altadena, CA.

Our family never imagined we would need to search for words to explain the devastation that comes with watching our grandma go through a disaster like this. Our grandma lost one of her only connections to a lifetime of memories and the ability to enjoy a home she worked years to build.

Grandma Zetta has lived alone since our Grandpa passed away in 2021. In this time she has thrived independently while facing every challenge with absolute grace and an incredible amount of patience. She even took over tending the garden our grandpa built years ago. The Eaton fire took the house our late Grandpa Ray built the roof on, their garden we spent countless weekends in as children, irreplaceable family photos and so much more.

There are likely not enough words to describe what an absolute pillar to the community our grandma is, but selfless, loving, kind, understanding, and strong scratch the surface. Zetta is a retired nurse who still works through her church to fundraise through local CROP Walks and volunteers with local organizations like Friends in Deed.

This fire has taken away our grandma's ability to live independently as a senior citizen. Her independence is something she has worked so hard for and has always been proud of. The thought of her losing this ability is tantamount to almost anything else she has lost. 

While a large amount of the physical items consumed in the fire were irreplaceable in sentimental value, we want to be able to support her on her journey to recovery after this immense loss.

We are beyond grateful to anybody who shares or donates at this time, and our hearts are with all the other people all across LA County who are experiencing any form of loss. Thank you ❤️
