Hi friends, family, and kind strangers –

I'm reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help saving my best friend’s eyesight.

Zephyr, my 5-year-old Boston Terrier (and soon-to-be birthday boy on May 31st), suddenly lost his vision on Wednesday, May 7th. After a stressful emergency vet visit in the middle of the night, followed by appointments with a veterinary ophthalmologist, we got devastating news: Zephyr has fully detached retinas in both eyes. This came out of nowhere, with no history of eye issues.

To know Zephyr is to know a dog who lives for movement, challenge, and the outdoors. He's a little parkour daredevil—leaping onto and off of obstacles, running across fallen trees, and splashing through creeks like a furry ninja. Getting him back inside is usually a battle (I joke that he’d rather be fed to the coyotes than come in for dinner).

But beyond all that, Zephyr is my heart. He’s been my anchor through years of anxiety and depression. His companionship has given me strength when I had none. He’s not just a pet—he’s my family, my daily joy, my reason to keep moving forward.

We are now consulting with a specialist in Seattle to see if Zephyr is a candidate for retina reattachment surgery. If he is, the surgery alone will cost around $12,000, not including the emergency visits, specialist exams, and follow-up care. We’ll also need to travel to Seattle multiple times for post-op appointments.

We know times are ruff (pun 100% intended), and not everyone can give. But if you're able to contribute anything—even $5—it would mean the world to us. And if not, your thoughts, prayers, and good vibes are just as welcome and deeply appreciated.
