Help Zenique go to Harvard

My name is Zenique Padilla, and I am currently a junior, moving into my senior year. I have attended Manual High school since my freshman year. I am a dedicated young woman who will pursue all of my dreams and make them come true. I am a hard working person that will continue to work until I have a full understanding of the task that is being asked of me. Due to my hard work and dedication, I have been accepted into Harvard Academy. This Academy will give me the opportunity to study with students from around the United States at Harvard. To fund this learning experience at Harvard, I need to raise $2,000. I am deserving of this opportunity because of my work ethic, I put in extra hours and strive to be the best and that’s why I should be THE student who should get to experience this opportunity.
At the beginning of my freshman year, writing 1-2 pages was incredibly difficult for me, but now, as a junior, this week I have turned in an 18 page paper. This shows how much I have improved not only on my dedication but my writing skills as well. I know a 18 page paper is something I would never have been able to approach during my 9th grade year. There have definitely been times over the years when the work was challenging, and I felt defeated, but I have found a way to persevere through those hard times. I constantly remind myself that I am going to get through the challenging times because I know that I am able to get through anything. I have struggled over the years to find out who I truly am when it came to school, and being a student. I wasn’t sure what type of learner I was until the teachers here at Manual helped me figure that out. I like to learn through experiences and hands on activities, then I am able to apply what I have learned from the different experiences. That’s why I am asking for your help to fund this learning experience to Harvard.
I am the third sibling out of four. I have three brothers and I am the only girl. I have two elder brothers and one younger than me. I am my mom’s one and only daughter. Being her one and only daughter, I am going to make a change within my family. I have already made a change by being the only girl and now I want to make a change with my education. My mother, Reyna, didn’t make it to high school because she dropped out in middle school, my father, Mike, graduated from high school, my eldest brother, Elijah, died before he was able to graduate but we all knew that he was capable of, my other brother, Matteaux, graduated from an alternative high school. Now it is my turn to graduate and the difference between my family and I is that I have made it this far in a traditional high school setting. When I attend college, I will be the first from my family to go and finish with a college degree.
Going to this program will be a life changing experience and I will gain leadership skills, travel experience, and real-world experiences just by attending this academy. It is truly an honor to get the opportunity to attend an academy at a prestigious university such as Harvard. Manual High School is a school that does not always get the recognition it deserves. At Manual we have students who have earned full ride scholarships, athletic scholarships, internships, being able to go to HBCU and other college tours. This opportunity being available to me will allow me to go to Cambridge and learn alongside with other high achieving students across the United States. The experience will introduce me to a college setting and being at this academy will enhance my perspective and expose me to various approaches to high level academic work which will help me build a stronger foundation for my future. By contributing to funding this learning opportunity for me, I will be able to bring back my experience to the other seniors and be a role model to influence underclassmen to show them the opportunities that are open to them if they make school a priority by being focused, involved, and dedicated.
I am asking for your help to fund $2000 for this learning experience. The funding will cover the tuition for the Harvard Academy, airfare, transportation, food, and lodging for my stay in Cambridge. I am grateful for anything you are able to contribute to help make this experience a reality for me.
