Help Zena Get Life-Saving Dental Surgery

Zena, my 10-year-old dog, has been with me since she was a six-week-old puppy. She has always been a happy and playful companion. Just recently, after coming in from the dog park, she and my other dog ate their food as usual. But only a few minutes later, Zena began trying to pull her own tooth out, which terrified me. I wasn't sure if she was having a seizure or choking, but it turned out she had dislodged a tooth that was already damaged. Since Sunday, she hasn't eaten, and I've been desperately trying to get her help. Every day, I called the ASPCA on 92nd Street, but their schedule was full within minutes. It was heartbreaking to wait another 24 hours each time, hoping for an opening. When I finally rushed her to Morris Park Animal Hospital, the vet didn't want to treat her because her teeth were so severely infected and loose. Zena needs five or more extractions, and I was in shock when I saw the extent of her pain. She's always been a strong warrior—it's why I named her Zena. I had no idea she was suffering, because dogs often hide their discomfort to please their owners. Zena is loving, has beautiful eyes, and enjoys meeting other fur babies. We've lived on the same block for 12 years, and everyone knows Zena. When I'm alone, neighbors always ask where she is, because she's such a big part of our community.
After visiting the Animal Hospital, I received an itemized treatment plan, and the bill is overwhelming. My credit isn't good, so I wasn't approved for Care Credit. I live on a fixed income, and coming up with this money is very difficult. Meanwhile, Zena is suffering. She hasn't eaten in days, she's weak, and she's in pain. She can't close her mouth fully. It's breaking my heart that I can't afford the medical attention she needs.
The funds raised will go directly towards Zena's surgery, any prescriptions she may need after the surgery, transportation costs for multiple visits to the Animal Hospital for X-rays and labs, and any follow-up care Zena may need. Anything that you can give, no matter how big or small, would be so greatly appreciated. Zena loves life and she loves people. I can't imagine my life without her.
