On 1/25/23, 6-year-old Zeke was sadly and unexpectedly diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). A trip to urgent care for an ongoing fever turned into an immediate admission to Golisano Children’s Hospital, where Zeke began inpatient treatment that generally lasts from 22-29 days. Following this, treatment will continue from home, though total length of time and intensity is yet to be determined. Those who have learned of this turn of events have been shocked and devastated, as Zeke is such a sweet, kind, and talented kiddo.
As one can expect, there will be costs associated with Zeke’s ongoing treatment (and, eventually, following treatment) to maintain his health and quality of life. He is likely to receive in/outpatient treatments over the course of approximately 2 years, and will need to be slowly re-introduced to educational and extracurricular activities as his health improves. Additionally, parents’ time away from work during Zeke’s hospital stay and in the coming years (for ongoing clinic appointments, tutoring and PT sessions, weekly home nurse visits, etc.) will impact available financial resources.
If you are able to support Zeke and his current and future medical, academic, and extracurricular needs, please consider donating. And, thank you so much for your ongoing outreach, help, support, and love. It has felt like our community of family, friends, and neighbors has wrapped us up in a big hug during this unexpected life hurdle.
We can’t wait to see Zeke crush Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and continue on with his full and amazing life.
