Aloha Family and Friends,
I never thought I'd see the day where I will be writing one of these not to only ask for your help, but to inform all of you devastating news.
My name is Dustin Iwabuchi and I am writing this for my mother Zarmain "Zee" Rabago-Iwabuchi. She was diagnosed with Malignant Neoplasm of the Brain (Brain cancer), and our family is asking for your assistance.
At the end of March 2022 my mother had been complaining about having a lot of anxiety, and felt overly stressed. As days went on we helped her more and more with chores and watching her two babies Bentley (dog), and Keiko (cat). On April 4th our family rushed her to the ER as she could not regularly function (stroke like symptoms). At first we thought she was having a stroke, and as she stayed at the ER her situation had worsen. After doing the necessary procedures (MRI and CT scan) they had found a tumor. As soon as they found the tumor the decision was made for her to get a biopsy.
On April 12th we were told the worse news anyone could receive, and that it was cancerous. Within a couple of weeks mom went from being happy, and making plans for her future to not only being told devastating news, but not being able to function normally.
Mom is unable to walk, and is wheel chair ridden. She needs help with daily tasks like changing, using the bathroom, to eating. 24 hr/7 days a week care. She cant put a full sentence together but tries her best. We have been very fortunate, and I am beyond thankful for my brother Dillon that has been there for her every step of the way, along with our other brother Dalton, and our Father, and his wife. It does take a team to care for someone 24hrs a day, and all of their life duties as well is a tough task.
As mom is very private with her life, and we were as everyone should be hopeful that she will pull through, we waited to say anything. This is why it took us this long to get word out. She went through her radiation, physical therapy and now is taking her chemo orally. She was progressing but took a downward slope recently. We are always hopeful, but are now preparing the best we can. This is when we decided I think it's time to get word out.
If anyone knows my mother she has been the rock and foundation of our immediate and whole family. She helped raise a lot of our cousins, took care of a lot of our family members and her friends in time of need. She always put everyone else before her. Having me at a young age, and not just handing me over to babysitters she took care of myself and my brothers while trying to finally start a career when I was old enough to help care for my brothers. She had many dreams, and was in plans to finally live the life she deserved. Most recently she wanted to make a skoolie and take her fur babies traveling cross country. Everyday she'd be watching YouTube videos and researching on how to do it. Then one day the most powerful, most driven, headstrong person I know became someone that as much as she doesn't want help….the one that needed the most help.
Our goal with this gofund me is to make mom as comfortable as possible, and to help my brother get rest himself. We are in need to cover her regular bills to medical expenses past, curren, and future. A nurse to assist her daily so that our family can get her professional care (which is the most costly), and be prepared for any type of emergency that may happen.
We are always in high hopes, but want to be prepared as this is one of the toughest cancers to beat.
Now that word will get out we ask to allow Mom and the family to focus on helping her beat this, and be as comfortable as possible. If you want to give her words of encouragement, prayers and hope please leave a message below. If you are able to donate even just one dollar we'd really appreciate it. I know everyone is going through their own trials and tribulations especially with covid still lingering, I ask if you could at least keep mom in your thoughts, and be kind to everyone and enjoy life. You never know what can happen, and pleade if you are able to to share our story.
I Love all of you, and don't forget to love the life you live, and live the life you love. Live life to the fullest, don't look back and have no regrets.
We will keep everyone updated as time goes on.
