My name is Zayra Terrero, and today, I come to you with an open heart, seeking your help in raising funds for a non-conventional distal femur and knee prosthesis—a life-changing necessity for me.

Let me share a bit of my journey with you. Two years ago, I was diagnosed with a malignant tumor in my femur. At that time, I underwent extensive procedures—biopsy, imaging studies, nuclear scans—all confirming the devastating diagnosis. The pain and swelling made it nearly impossible for me to move. My treatment included the removal of the affected bone, a bone cement graft, three titanium plates, and screws, followed by a long and painful eight-month recovery with physical therapy.

Today, two years later, my world has been shaken once again. The same giant cell tumor has returned, even more aggressive and widespread. This time, my femur and part of my knee will need to be completely removed and replaced with a prosthesis, allowing me to regain mobility. I will also have to undergo chemotherapy treatment to fight this battle.

What makes this even more challenging is that I am now a first-time mother to a beautiful 4-month-old baby. My greatest wish is to be able to hold my child, take those first steps together, and embrace life fully. But in my country, this high-cost procedure is not covered by medical insurance, leaving me in a desperate situation.

Right now, I am unable to work, and my husband and family are doing everything they can to support me, but the costs for the prosthesis, surgery, and hospital stay are overwhelming. That’s why I turn to you with hope in my heart.
