Zayne Boggs, a 17-year-old Hill Country High student, is facing a long road to recovery after being struck by a school bus Wednesday afternoon near Tacos to Go.
Zayne had just started a new job at The Wash Tub and was traveling from school to work when the accident happened. He was riding his electric skateboard on the sidewalk when he hit a bump and was thrown into oncoming traffic. The back tire of KISD Bus #6 went over him.
His injuries are extensive.
His mother Jessica, who works at Peterson Regional Medical Center, was at work when she heard the sirens — not knowing they were for her son.
They called while I was at work. I could hear the EMS and sirens.

As of Friday evening, Zayne was in his fourth surgery. His injuries include multiple pelvic fractures, spinal fractures, a ruptured bladder, a torn iliac artery, internal degloving, and injury to his colon.
The family needs help with medical expenses, travel, food, and the months of recovery ahead.
