Zayn is a bright and joyful three-year-old boy from the Philippines. He will soon be turning 4 years old, and like any little boy his age, he loves to run, play, and follow his big brother (7 year old), whom he lovingly calls Kuya. Zayn has a warm and caring soul — when someone in the family is sick, he pretends to be a doctor and asks with concern, “What’s wrong? What sickness do you have?” He loves mimicking his grandpa with tools, pretending to fix things around the house. Zayn is playful, talkative, and full of life. He is also incredibly smart, quickly picking up new things and eagerly wanting to go to school, just like the children he sees around him.

But behind his big smile and cheerful personality lies a serious battle.

When Zayn was just one year old, he developed a cough and cold that would not go away, lasting for three long months despite multiple medications. After many doctor visits and evaluations, his parents received devastating news: Zayn was diagnosed with Congenital Heart Disease — Atrial Septal Defect (Secundum) and Pulmonary Artery Stenosis.

For a time, doctors hoped the hole in his heart might close on its own as he grew. He was given maintenance medicine to help prevent fluid from building up in his lungs. And through it all, Zayn never stopped being the cheerful, loving boy who fills his family’s days with laughter and joy.

Sadly, on September 6, 2025, doctors confirmed that the hole in his heart had grown larger — now measuring 7mm. The only option left is open-heart surgery, and it must be done soon.

The surgery costs ₱600,000 pesos (about $11,000 USD), and in the Philippines, hospitals require full payment upfront before the operation can take place. For Zayn’s family, who simply want their son to live a normal, healthy life, this amount is overwhelming.

Zayn will celebrate his 4th birthday on February 22, 2026. His parents pray that he will be able to blow out his candles and wish for a future filled with school days, playtime, and growing up alongside his kuya — not one overshadowed by hospital visits and the pain of a sick heart.
