My name is Brandon and my 7 month old puppy Zappa is one of the greatest blessings in my life. His happy go lucky, goofy and loving personality captures the heart of everyone that stops and takes the time to interact with him. The first 5 months of Zappa's life were full of him doing normal puppy activities like running around the house with his toys in his mouth, harassing his older aunt, and cuddling with his dad. However, after Zappa became nuetered his whole demeanor had changed. His body did not respond well to the anesthesia. The once energetic puppy became lethargic and slow. After a month of going to the he was finally diagnosed with a interheptic liver shunt- a congenital liver disease that prevents his blood from being properly filtered and causing toxins, such as ammonia to flow through his body, causing physical and neurological damage. Although his cocktail of medicine helps alleviate and minimizes his complications, his life expectancy is estimated to be 4 years. Therefore im setting up this go fund me page so Zap can receive a coil embolisation which is only done at a very few vetinary hospitals (Upenn AMCNY), which is a minimally invasive radiation therapy procedure which will allow the blood to bypass his shunt, so his liver can function normally and he can live a long, happy life.
