My sister Zanna has a 1.5 year old little baby and 2 weeks ago was found to have sepsis (an infection in her blood stream). Over the last 2 weeks, she has had to be put on a ventilator and had to have open heart surgery. If she isn't off the ventilator soon, she will need a tracheostomy and a feeding tube and will have a long recovery. She lost her job due to having to take time off from being sick, and she won't be able to work for a while as she will likely need to go to a skilled nursing facility.
