On Sunday night, my sweet boy Zane was attacked by a 130-pound dog. While I was showering, a friend kindly took him outside on his leash. Suddenly, a friends family member’s dog ran out and grabbed Zane. My friend immediately tried to pry him free, and it ultimately took both the owner and his brother to force the dog’s mouth open and release him.
As soon as I came out of the shower and saw Zane, I noticed multiple puncture wounds — one very severe on his abdomen. We rushed an hour and a half to the nearest open emergency vet, where he underwent surgery to clean the wounds and stitch the punctures to his stomach and abdomen.
At first, I hoped he was on the mend. But by Tuesday morning, I knew something wasn’t right. After lab work, X-rays, and ultrasounds at his primary vet, we learned that the attack had also punctured his pancreas. He now has pancreatitis, which is releasing enzymes that are damaging his liver and starting to affect his kidneys. He’s currently hospitalized, receiving IV medicine, electrolytes, and 24/7 monitoring.
The initial surgery was covered by the other dog’s owners, but they are refusing to pay for the continued care. As a full-time college student, this has placed an overwhelming financial burden on me. I cannot let my baby suffer or give up on him — Zane is family, and he deserves a chance to heal and live a full, happy life.
Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly to Zane’s ongoing medical bills. If you’re unable to donate, simply sharing this fundraiser means the world to us. Thank you for your love, prayers, and support during this heartbreaking time.
