Hi, my name is Zakia
I’m a mother, teacher, entrepreneur, and survivor. I am a graduate of St. Johns University and Long Island University CW Post.
In April 2025, my life changed. I was rushed to the hospital, violently ill, and what I thought was just a bad episode turned out to be something far more serious: a brain tumor. A Grade 3 Astrocytoma was discovered in the frontal lobe of my brain. After a painful and uncertain few months of testing, scans, and a biopsy, I underwent brain surgery on July 3 to remove the tumor.
By the grace of God, the surgery was a success. My surgeon believes he was able to remove all of the visible tumor. But this is only the beginning of my healing.
My Treatment Plan
To ensure the tumor does not grow back, my doctors have placed me on a 6-week treatment plan consisting of both radiation and chemotherapy.
• 30 rounds of radiation therapy (5 days a week, Monday through Friday)
• 42 rounds of oral chemotherapy (Temodar) taken 7 days a week
This plan is considered standard for my type of tumor, and while it may seem aggressive to some, it is necessary. I am doing everything I can to give myself the best possible chance for long-term healing and a full life ahead.
Right now, I am home recovering. I’m in constant pain, dizzy, weak, and unable to stand for long. I can’t even cook for myself or walk unassisted. My doctors have told me I’m at risk for seizures and must be monitored closely but I’ve been recovering alone.
This GoFundMe was created out of necessity, not comfort. As I heal, I cannot work. The financial strain has made a difficult time even more overwhelming. I’m asking for help with:
• Medical bills and follow-up care
• Prescriptions
• Transportation to appointments
• Meal and home assistance during recovery
• Rent and basic living expenses while I’m unable to work
Even if you cannot give financially, please share this with others. Your prayers, shares, and kind messages have already meant the world to me.
This recovery is more than just physical it’s emotional, spiritual, and deeply personal. I am committed to healing, to protecting my peace, and to coming out of this stronger.
If I have ever encouraged or uplifted you today I ask that you stand with me.
Thank you for loving me through this.
With love and gratitude,
Zakia
