Help Zak Walk Again: Support His Amputation Recovery
Donation protected

Hi everyone,
If you haven’t heard, Zak was recently hospitalized after a devastating accident. While working on his firearm, it misfired—and the result was life-altering. In his own words:
“I accidentally shot myself. Not with a small gun either—I pretty much blew my right foot off.”
After emergency trauma care, painful decisions had to be made. He’s now facing a half-foot amputation. His foot is severely damaged, and reconstructive surgery would lead to constant pain, limited mobility, and a lifetime of complications due to embedded ammunition and tissue loss.
Zak’s outlook is grounded and brave:
“Honestly, I’ve already come to good terms with this. I’ve accomplished a lot on my feet. Once the nub heals, I’ll be mobile again and live a somewhat normal life. I probably won’t step on a skateboard again—but I’m okay with that.”
Who Is Zak?
Zak’s the kind of guy who’s always on the move—a lifelong skater, athlete, and most recently, the founder of his own stone and tile company. He’s strong, hardworking, and stubborn in all the best ways.
But even the strongest people need help.
Why We’re Asking for Support
Zak has no health insurance, and the road ahead includes:
• Amputation surgery and wound recovery
• A custom prosthetic foot
• Physical therapy for months (possibly years)
• Daily pain management
• Modifying his living space to be safe and accessible
He’s also terrified to go home right now—there aren’t enough resources or support systems in place to help him heal comfortably or safely.
This GoFundMe is to raise urgent funds for:
• His prosthetic and fittings
• Physical therapy and rehabilitation
• Medical supplies and wound care
• Accessibility needs at home
From Zak
Zak also wants this story to serve as a warning and a lesson. He says:
“Let me be the example. The gun went off because I didn’t clear the chamber. Rule number one, man. Always clear the f***in’ chamber. Please—be smarter than I was.”
“To my friends, family, and even strangers—I’m asking for help with this from the bottom of my heart. I’m scared, but I’m trying to stay strong. ”
Final Thoughts
Zak’s story is about loss—but also survival. And with your help, it can be about healing and rebuilding too.
If you can donate, please do. Every dollar helps. And even if you can’t, please share this with someone who might.
Let’s get Zak back on his feet.
With love and thanks,
Zak & Aryanna
