Help Zahra achieve her dreams of flying

My name is Phill Hargreaves and I have started a Gofundme account for Zahra Samar who escaped from Afghanistan and has taken refuge in Adelaide, Australia. I am a pilot myself and her story of becoming a pilot resonated with me because she is hoping to achieve her dreams in Australia. All proceeds are directly debited into her Australian bank account.

When a soldier rushed her saying, “Zahra you should leave the barracks right now!”, never did the petite Afghan trainee pilot imagine her life would be turned upside down within days.

 

Zahra Samar was training with the military air force in Afghanistan to fulfill her dream of becoming a pilot. Life was tough but there was stability. She did not think in her wildest dreams that the oppressive Taliban would regain control of the country and impose their brutal regime once again. One of her last memories before fleeing, was hearing the tragic news of her teacher shot in front of his kids in his own house. Risking her life, she managed to escape with just the clothes on her back to Adelaide, where she is now trying to piece back her life, away from family and friends.

 

The #hopeforzahra is to help get her back on her feet and fulfill her dream of flying in Australia. While she has managed to find welcoming arms among her community, her heart is still back in Afghanistan, fearing for her family and friends’ lives. This campaign is to offer a hope for a better life in Australia.
