Hi, my name is Redika, and I want to tell you about my partner, Zachary Simmons. He is going through a really tough time right now.
Zachary is from St. John’s, Newfoundland. On March 6th 2025, he got very sick and was flown away from St. John’s General Health Science Hospital to the Ottawa Heart Institute as an emergency heart failure case. It was a scary night for us, and we realized how serious his health was.
In Ottawa, Zachary had an emergency surgery called an LVAD implantation. This device helps his heart work while he waits for a heart transplant. We are thankful for the doctors and nurses who are helping him, but it’s still a hard situation. Zachary can’t work right now, and we are worried about the costs of his medical care and living expenses.
The road ahead is long, but we are staying hopeful. I am asking for help from our friends, family, and community. Any amount you can give no matter how small will really help us during this tough time. Your kindness will help cover medical costs and let us focus on Zachary’s recovery.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Your support means so much to us, and we appreciate everyone who stands by us during this journey.
