Help Zack and Sophie Stay by Miriam's Side

At 20 weeks pregnant, my son and his girlfriend found out their 3rd baby girl had ventricular encephalomegaly. With this condition, the baby’s brain collects the cerebrospinal fluid, making the brain swell. There were so many unknowns until the baby was born, but they had to start going to Gundersen, alternating with Meriter Hospital in Madison every other week for ultrasounds to watch the ventricle size in the baby’s brain. The goal was to keep her in utero as long as possible. The time came last Tuesday morning when it was becoming dangerous for the baby, and she was delivered via C-section at 36 weeks. She is a fighter and had her first brain surgery with an EVT on Friday morning at only 3 days old. She was doing good until last night when she quit breathing and had to be bagged several times. The neuro doctors did an MRI today, which looked good, but because she’s so little, she had to be placed on a respirator to help with her breathing. She will be in the hospital in the NICU for at least a month and has a long road ahead of her. Our entire family is praying for her and can’t wait for the day she joins mom and dad and her 2 older sisters at home.
Mom and dad (Zack and Sophie) have been staying with baby Miriam at the hospital, other than to spend a couple of hours with the other girls. We started this GoFundMe to be able to allow them to be off work to spend this much-needed time with their baby in Madison without the stress of worrying about their financial obligations on top of worrying about their new baby and her medical necessities. Thank you so much and please, please keep praying for Zack, Sophie, and baby Miriam.
