Help Zack and Amanda through His Incurable Cancer

Donation protected
Zack has overcome so much already, displaying strength and perseverance in even the most difficult circumstances.

As most of you probably know, Zack was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the throat in 2020. To survive, Zack had to have a total laryngectomy. He lost his ability to speak unassisted, taste fully, smell, and more. Because of the prior campaign and your very generous donations, Amanda was able to help Zack through that difficult stage of his life, which took a great toll on both of them. It was made a little easier, though, knowing that they could focus on his healing and health rather than where rent was coming from. For that, I will be forever grateful to the generous souls who shared, helped, donated, and gave a kind word or prayer.

While that surgery was as successful as we hoped it would be, it could not stop time- the one thing that Fanconi Anemia so cruelly takes away from those affected. Zack has had a recurrence of his cancer. However, it has metastasized to his liver and other areas of his throat. Zack will need various treatments, including immunotherapy. The goal is to help give him a little more time by preventing the cancer from further spreading.  Sadly, this cancer is not curable. It is difficult to say how long it will take as there is limited data on the outcomes of patients with FA.

Most of you know that Zack worked at UPMC with individuals with intellectual disabilities.  He cannot work now because of his aggressive cancer and physical limitations. Amanda works as a therapist but would like to take some time off to be with Zack so that she can help Zack throughout this difficult diagnosis and new stage of his life.

Your donation will help Zack and Amanda directly with living expenses so that they can focus on his health. Specifically, your generosity will help Amanda be able to take care of Zack and help him be comfortable for the time he has left.

Thanks to the generosity of his parents and brother, Zack and Amanda have been able to take a last trip together to Puerto Rico. When they come back, they will face lengthy treatments to try to give Zack a little more time, as well as the devastating reality of the physical, mental, and financial concerns that come along with dying.

Zack has always rallied to help everyone, whether it's the people he works with, his friends, or a stranger in need.  He has overcome so much for his entire life.  Most people might have given up by now.  It's our turn to support him.   Please thoughtfully consider donating to help Zack and Amanda.
