Hi everyone! My name is Zach, and I’m producing something truly special this summer at the Rapid City Performing Arts Center — a two-person comedy with a big heart: Gutenberg! The Musical!

If you’ve never heard of it, Gutenberg! The Musical! tells the hilarious and touching story of two dreamers — Bud and Doug — who believe so strongly in their idea that they pour their hearts into performing their “masterpiece” musical (about Johannes Gutenberg, the inventor of the printing press) in hopes of finding a producer who will make it big.

It’s silly. It’s heartfelt. It’s about passion, friendship, and the joy (and chaos) of believing in something — even when the odds are stacked against you. And in a lot of ways, that’s exactly what this project feels like for us, too.

Why This Show Matters:

We’re a small team — just two performers and a handful of dedicated friends helping behind the scenes — but our goal is to bring huge energy, laughter, and love to the stage.

In a world where it can sometimes feel like big productions get all the attention, Gutenberg! The Musical! celebrates the magic of small theatre — the kind that relies on creativity, heart, and human connection more than anything else.

This show reminds us that you don’t need a huge cast or fancy effects to create something meaningful. You just need people who care deeply about what they’re doing.

How Your Support Helps:

Even small productions take real resources to bring to life. Your donation will go directly toward:

Every dollar helps us make this dream a reality and ensures we can give audiences a joyful, professional experience.

Why We’re Asking for Help:

Just like Bud and Doug in the show, we’re two people with a big dream — to make something wonderful happen on stage. We’re passionate about theatre, about storytelling, and about giving our community something to laugh about, connect over, and remember.

Your support doesn’t just help fund a show — it helps support local artists, brings live theatre to Rapid City, and keeps the creative spirit of our community thriving.

Join Us in Making Theatre Magic:

If you can, please consider donating to help us bring Gutenberg! The Musical! to life this summer.

And if you can’t contribute financially, you can still make a big difference by sharing this campaign, spreading the word, and coming to see the show!

Thank you for believing in the arts, in small theatre, and in the power of a couple of dreamers with a story to tell.

With love and gratitude,

Zach & the Cast of Gutenberg! The Musical!

P.S. Every donor gets a shoutout in our program, unless you wish to remain anonymous!
