Help Zachary Boyd beat cancer

Hello. My name is Debra and Zachary is my 10-year-old grandson. He was just diagnosed with osteosarcoma. They have found a tumor just above his left knee and it turned out to be cancer. He has a long road ahead of him. First, he has to go thru two complete rounds of chemotherapy (each round requiring at least 5 nights in the hospital), followed by a surgery where they are going to remove the tumor they found as well as his femur bone. They will replace it with a prosthetic bone that is supposed to grow as he grows. This will be followed by another 4 rounds of chemo and physical therapy so he can learn how to walk again.
He is being treated at Vanderbilt Pediatric hospital, which is 80 miles from where we live. The numerous trips back and forth will be costly, especially with gas prices on the rise. His mom will also have to miss quite a bit of work, and the lost wages will be devastating to their household bills. Lastly, since his mom cannot drive, someone must take them for each trip down there and stay until he can be brought home.
This is just the beginning of Zach's journey thru this devastating time. However, Zachary is aware of what he is facing and is tackling it head on with as much grace and strength as anyone I have ever seen. He remains upbeat and is doing everything he can to make it better for all the adults around him that are so devastated by his diagnosis. I have no idea what all will be needed before this is over and can only say thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any help we receive to make sure Zachary is taken care of and has a home to return to once all of this is over.
