Help Zach Survive Crohn's & Live Life Again!

Donation protected
Zach is back in the hospital. We are going to pursue disability, as everytime he tries to work, his Medicaid is taken away and he ends up back in the hospital. We are pursuing a disability lawyer, as he's applied twice before and been turned down. He's going to move in with us and focus on his health. It is the only way he will be able to live. Any help you can give is appreciated. I'll update more later.

Hi, my name is Gin and I'm fundraising for my son, Zach Telfer. Zach is currently hospitalized, and has spent Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the start of 2023 in a hospital bed. He has pulled through a perforated colon, surgery to repair and rearrange colon and insert an ostomy, very high fevers, infection caused by sepsis, a 2nd surgery to remove infection, a breathing tube inserted for 5 days (and I survived watching him have it removed), an 8 -10 inch incision in his abdomen and a wound vac, 2 part closure of his wound (finally) and today, January 5th, 2023, he had a procedure done to insert three drainage tubes to get rid of fluid buildup in his abdomen and chest. It's the final step before going home if fluid is successfully removed, which if not can cause another infection.

Zach has been in the hospital (this time around) since November 11th, 2022, and he is tired of lonely hospital rooms, being constantly poked with needles and misses his elderly kitty cat, Dookins. We were able to celebrate Christmas virtually from the rehabilitation hospital, but he spent New Year's Eve and day being shuffled between St Anthony's hospitals in Westminster and Lakewood by ambulance.

Obviously, Zach is unable to work, so has no money coming in. He is unable to live on his own (due to his physical condition and also, again, no income.) Not sure if he will be able to work or get disability or what. He is looking forward to the future, and getting healthy, but unsure how long and what exactly that will take. He doesn't even have a cell phone at the moment because he doesn't have the money to pay his bill (or any bills for that matter.) We got him a tablet for Christmas, and hospitals have free wifi, which is the only way we've been able to keep in constant contact. Any donations to get him through this challenging time and information on how I can help him out, besides just emotional support, would be appreciated. His ostomy most likely is permanent. Hopefully that relieves the pain and issues from the Crohn's. He's been through a lot the last few years with this horrible disease, at just 32 years old. I feel for anyone suffering, or who has a family member with Crohn's.

Thank you to everyone who has shown support, concern, and sent prayers and good vibes for Zach's health, and please continue to do so! It is extremely difficult having a child with serious health problems battle to become healthy again. Even when that child is an adult, a grown man who's been on his own for quite some time, he's still my little boy and I want to do whatever I can to make him better. Zach's Dad and I have been doing what we can to help him out, but it's going to take time before he is back on his feet and able to go back to work and be on his own again. Any money donated will go directly to Zach so he is able to live life best he can, until he's able to live fully again. Thank you for reading if you've reached the end of this message. I know it's long. And we still have a long way to go.
