My name is Carl Bowser, and I'm from Pensacola, Florida. I'm organizing this fundraiser for my friend Zachary Brunson, whose full-time home was destroyed by a hurricane. The $60,000 fundraising target is to help him buy a replacement mobile home to live in. We haven't picked a home or gotten a final price yet, so we can't give an exact cost breakdown. We'll post updates as soon as we have those details.
Zach's car is now the only place he has to live. HURRICANE ISAIAS flipped and destroyed the trailer that was his full-time home, along with everything inside it.
Zach was driving Lyft passengers to New Orleans when his car broke down on I-10. After a seven-hour wait for a tow, AutoZone was closed, so they slept in the car until he could get new batteries the next morning. He was racing home to move his trailer, but the hurricane got there first.
The trailer was where he lived, not a vacation camper, and it had no insurance. He lost his clothes, computers, monitors, TVs, a portable refrigerator, his portable AC and heat unit, and all his personal effects. Hardest of all, he lost photos of his kids and keepsakes from his whole life.
Driving for Lyft is his only income, so the car that survived is now both his work vehicle and his shelter.
Our goal is $60,000 to help Zach get a mobile home as his replacement full-time home. This is a fundraising target, not a quote for a specific home. He also needs clothing, food, temporary lodging, and household basics, and faces the cost of hauling away the wreck and possible charges for damage to the RV park's electrical equipment. Those costs are not yet known and are separate from the goal.
One fundraiser, two pages: this fundraiser is also running on FreeFunder. Both pages count toward one combined $60,000 goal, not separate goals, and we'll post the combined total in updates here.
Please donate if you can, or share this page. Thank you for helping Zach rebuild.
