Dearest friends & family,
It is with deep sadness and a humble heart that our family finds ourselves at a crucial time to ask for your compassion, support and prayers.. As only a handful of you know, back in October 2020, my son, Zacciah Hanson was badly injured while choreographing a fight scene on a low budget film set. During the stunt, he received a blunt hit to the elbow which left him with a rare fracture and torn ligament in his right arm. Unfortunately, the film company has not been willing to cooperate with giving out their insurance information.. Zacciah has also not been able to collect Unemployment Insurance to take time off to heal and recover. Consequently, he's been stuck between a rock and a hard place, forced to continue working as a server in a busy, high paced restaurant which has only caused more damage to his injured arm and lead to other physical health issues such as severe sciatica & hip pain and now gout inflammation to his foot from all the stress.
In addition to the physical pain he's been enduring (refusing to take pain killers out of fear of creating a dependency) he was also diagnosed with possible early onset Crone's disease in November when he wound up in the emergency room after 4 days of terrible gut pain. As if that wasn't enough, in January he found himself in the emergency room, once again, with excruciating chest pain & trouble breathing which the doctor's diagnosed as a rare heart condition called Pericarditis. Needless to say this hasn't been an easy ride for Zacciah. In truth, it has been complete hell for him. I have spent countless hours on the phone with him in tears. I've been checking in almost daily to make sure he's still alive and doing Ok.. Not to sound dramatic, but when he recently texted me at 5 am crying for help because he was having suicidal thoughts and couldn't take it anymore, I knew I had to take more serious measures.. And so here I am, reaching out to my family, friends & community for help..
Being an athlete, dancer, martial artist & professional actor and stunt man has made this journey extremely challenging for him on so many levels.. But most importantly, he hasn't been able to pursue or practice any of the things that have always brought him the most joy & fulfillment in life.. and as many of you know, since he was a child, he has always strived for excellence.. Accomplishing anything he puts his mind too with tenacious determination, focus and enthusiasm, all while bearing that beautiful smile and beaming rays of love, sunshine and the warmest hugs to every person, child and animal he comes in contact with. I don't know anyone (other than his granny) who loves making people feel good and brightening someone's day more than this star seed child..
Sadly, I have seen this side of Zacciah slowly deteriorate as he has struggled daily for nearly 6 months with relentless physical & emotional pain, feeling overwhelmed, scared, angry, sad, helpless, depressed, broken and most of all, extremely lonely... especially after breaking up with his girlfriend a month ago.
Now, after 6 months of various healing and therapy modalities that haven't seemed to work due to his inability to take time off to rest, recover and heal - his employers, who previously showed very little empathy, support or understanding, have finally taken him off the schedule until he can fully recover. Although this is good news, on one hand, it also leaves him unable to support himself financially with rent, utilities, school loans, food and thousands of dollars in medical bills, acupuncture treatments, physical therapy and copays, even with his health insurance.
And so, it is our hope and prayer that creating a Gofund me will help raise enough money for him to cover his basic expenses & medical costs while he takes the time he so desperately needs to rest & heal and come back to joy again (hopefully within 3 months)... With all this said, my family and I deeply, humbly & graciously thank you for taking the time to watch & read Zacciah's story and for any support you can offer him.. even if it's just words of affirmation & love from time to time. Please reach out to him on social media or give him a call.. Anything that will help him feel that he's not alone on this journey.. That there are people out there who deeply love him and can empathize with his process and show they care. And please feel free to share this with anyone you feel may be able & willing to help.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! May you all be blessed with happiness, health & harmony during these auspicious times.
