Help Z play in the World Selects Invitational 2019

It was in her second year of playing for the Manitoulin Panthers that Zaagaasge was diagnosed with JIA (Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis) She had daily pain in her spine, knees and hands.  She continued to play for the Panthers always a little slow moving in the beginning but reaching full flexibility as the game or practice progressed.  At times the pain became unbearable.  The school had physical supports in place for her.  Special pencils and a personalized desk that would allow her to sit upright.  By the time she was playing on the first year Atom team she was being seen in the Sick Kids Rheumatology Clinic.  After several appointments it was agreed that hockey was what was keeping the Arthritis from making her imobile.

Zaagaasge continued with the Panthers until her first year of Peewees she wanted to see what she was capable of and decided to try out for the  Minor Peewee AAA Sudbury Wolves last spring.  Unfortunately she was cut the first night despite being told she was very capable.  On the second night of tryouts she received an apology and an request for her to return by the head coach.  He said he made a mistake and the coaching staff encouraged him to call her back.  She went back and was given a position on the 2018-2019 Sudbury Wolves Minor Peewee AAA team.  With the exception of a few games Zaagaasge was the only girl in tournaments in the south.

Before Christmas Zaagaasge tried out for a 2007 Girls Spring Team and was offered a position January 2019.  Several weeks later she was contacted and offered a position on the 2006 Pro Development team which is slated to play in the World Selects Invitational Tournament in Milan, Italy and Chamonix, France in April 2019.  The coach of the Pro Development team said "Zaagaasge is like Jordin Tootoo, talent coming from basically nowhere" "she stood out amongst the fifty plus girls during tryouts"

Zaagaasge is coming to the team quite late and did not have the opportunity to participate in the payment schedule.  Basically we need to raise $5600 by April 1st.  We have already fundraised over $4000 which paid for flights, uniform and a portion of her land fees.  The $5600 will cover the remaining portion of her land fee's which include hotel, meals, tours, transportation and tournament fees.

Zaagaasge's dream is to be the first 16 year old Ojibway girl to play for Team Canada in the Olympics.  We don't want the lack of funds to prevent her from this amazing opportunity.  Please help her get to the World Selects Invitation in Europe April 11, 2019.
