Hi family, friends, loved ones, kind strangers, and really anyone who is listening. Our sweet soul dog Z has been diagnosed with osteosarcoma, an aggressive bone cancer. Over the past few weeks, we’ve been in and out of emergency vet hospitals, trying to understand why he was in so much pain and limping. After countless visits and tests, we finally received the diagnosis last week.
The good news: the cancer has not spread to his lungs, which means Z still has a great chance to live a full, happy life.
Today, October 15th, he went through an emergency amputation of his front left leg to remove the tumor in his shoulder, which cost around $7,000. This will be followed by about five rounds of chemotherapy totaling $5,000. Before even reaching this point, we’ve already spent over $6,000 on emergency vet visits, diagnostics, and pain management just to get him stable and comfortable.
After many tears and long talks (Z’s input included), we’ve decided to fight for all the extra time we can have together. If you’re in a position to help, whether it’s by donating, sharing our story, sending prayers, or just holding us in your thoughts, we are deeply grateful. Every bit of support helps and means the world to us.
With love and gratitude,
Z, Ashley & Andrew
