Lindsey Wilcox (Z) is a natural dancer and an intrinsic writer. Her love for dance began at 3 years old, while she began writing songs, poems, and stories at the age of 8. The autoimmune disorder, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), also began attacking her body at the young age of 10. Even though the physical pain, caused by various symptoms, threatened to interfere with Z’s young life, she pushed through. Z refused to allow what was happening to her body to dictate her life.
Z’s love of dance and perseverance gave her the opportunity to become a young dance instructor and choreographer. Teaching different styles of dance to people of all ages, working with different studios, and dancing with famous choreographers. Z dreamed of becoming a famous choreographer and hip-hop dancer. But as she grew older, so did the list of SLE symptoms, and the severity of pain. In her twenties, Z was blessed with a child, who gave her new purpose, direction, and fight for their future.
SLE took a turn for the worse, and pursuing other avenues of work became necessary to support their small family. Z took a risk and created her own animal care business, turning her love for animals into a practical career. She was able to help her animal friends while creating recurring clients.
But eventually, the SLE attacking Z’s body forced her to make several difficult decisions. Because her symptoms intensified to a severe level, she is no longer capable of working outside of the home. Being faced with this realization, Z must find a new way to provide for her family. Turning to her childhood passion, she is building a career with her writing skills.
Z needs your help through this next chapter of her life. The funds you provide will give Z the ability to create a sustainable life for her family and herself. Building a successful writing business will take a lot of work, but with your help for housing and provisions, Z will be able to survive and thrive. Funds will go directly to housing, nutrition, and necessary provisions. Do not let SLE threaten to take everything away. Give Z her power back and help her live a fulfilling life again!
A personal note from Lindsey –
I have faced so many fears and challenges in my youth because of Lupus. I am still young, but I have been forced to consider that I may not be around, as I planned for my child. Not knowing what will happen to my body next and realizing I have no control is humbling. Admitting and talking about these challenges has been difficult. But I am going to speak up, share my story, and ask my community for help. Please help me through this next part of my life, stand with me on this new journey, and take each step of progress with me. I will not give up, I will fight back, and with your help, I will thrive!
